Microsoft can't be serious

zune.gifI started out to write a detailed entry about why the Zune will fail as a competent competitor to the iPod but the reasons became too numerous and boring so suffice it to say, the Zune doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in h-e-double hockeysticks at unseating the iPod. If the 67 million units sold head start wasn’t enough for Apple, one simply needs to spend five minutes at the Zune.net site to see that Microsoft, once again, doesn’t have a clue. And what’s up with Zune.net? Does the Redmond giant not have enough pull to get Zune.com? This has marketing disaster written all over it. Oh, and who under 60 uses the word social? That’s supposed to be urban street hip according to Microsoft. Marketing strike two. You can take your pick whether strike three is credited to the odd brown flagship color or the fact that you can’t use real dollars to purchase songs from the Zune store. Now the entertaining part will be the ringside seat for the beating of the century.

Sorry Microsoft. Valiant effort but the Zune won’t be replacing iPods on too many Christmas lists this year.

Gawd I love you techheads & Apple! Funny Stuff!

The Magical Mystery Tour/Peter Max-ish Bitter sweet graphic is kinda kool though.

Not to mention the legal action Microsoft is opening itself up to by providing an easy way to “share” copyrighted material. Apple has always protected itself well by making iPod owners jump hurdles in order to share.

Come on… competition is good. It will take a while but eventually both the iPod and the Zune will be very similar.. I’m still waiting for a widescreen iPod!!! maybe a little ‘competition’ will make it happen.
I mean where would the mini be if it didn;t compete with Ferrari/BMW/Porsche? ha!
